Hello, there!

It's finally the weekend, and I'm ready to relax. Sometimes I like to have plans, and sometimes I like to be spontaneous. This week, I've been really busy, so I'm in the mood to chill. But, one thing I did want to plan was my outfit.

I really wanted to wear a fall look, so I decided to break out my over-the-knee boots! Starting from there, I'm pairing them with my new favorite little black dress. I topped it all off with my grey hat from H&M, which I've gotten so much mileage out of lately! That completes a perfect look for a casual night out.

It's a beautiful day out, and a cup of coffee is calling my name. I can’t say no, and that’s a great excuse to get out of the house and do some me time.

But, between wedding planning and everything else I’ve got going on, time’s one thing I have to keep track of. Even though I’m more of the spontaneous type, that’s just a fact of life.

These days, pretty much everyone just uses their phone to tell time. I have to say, though, there’s no substitute for the class and convenience of a great watch.

It's October, and that means Fall is finally here. Well, sort of. Today, the high was eighty-seven degrees.
Still, autumn is one of my favorite seasons. Plus, if it's still hot where you live, the up-side to an extended transition is that your wardrobe can enjoy the best of both worlds. Today, I'm sharing this cute outfit that's perfect for mixing your Fall and Summer pieces. I prepared it for a casual afternoon, enjoying a pumpkin spice latte and outdoor, fall festivities.
I found the shirt online and, as soon as I saw it, it grabbed my attention. With a little bit of confidence, this simple, yet bold top is so fun to pair with denim, including your favorite pair of cut-offs.

"Everything happens for a reason."

I've heard that a lot. Some people don't believe it, and most people think it's cliche. But, when I think about our story, I begin to see God's deep wisdom at every step of the way.

For Jacob and I, that a story that began when we were 2,500 miles and two worlds apart. I'd need many more pages to describe all of the joys and sorrows that finally brought us to the moment we met on August 19th, 2010.

As we started talking, I immediately felt that I could trust Jacob. The extraordinary kindness in his eyes drew me to him. It was obvious that he genuinely wanted to know my story, and I knew that I could tell him anything.

During that time of my life, I was struggling with a lot of sadness and loneliness. All I could focus on was my own pain. Not only that, but I had a lot of doubts, fears, and insecurities about relationships. I thought that true love was just constant, intense emotions and attraction. So, all that to say, I wasn't in a healthy place emotionally to begin a relationship.

Before we could be together, I thought that I needed God to heal my heart. I cried out to God, and begged Him to give me a ready heart for Jacob. What I didn't know was that our relationship was part of God's plan to provide that healing, and shape both of our hearts to look more like His. Through my relationship with Jacob, I've learned that true love is really about deep commitment.

If you imagine a perfect relationship, ours hasn't been it. We've laughed, we've cried, and we've spent time apart. Now, seeing how much my Father used that pain to bring me closer to Him—and closer to Jacob—I wouldn't change a thing.

I’ve known in my heart that Jacob’s the one, and so I’ve had to wait patiently until he would pop the question. He’s so creative, and I knew he would put a lot of thought and effort into making this moment special for me.

Our dear friend, Leticia, asked if I was free for a photoshoot on Saturday, September 17th. She told me that she’d just gotten a new camera, and that she wanted to shoot me at the Memphis Botanic Gardens. I told her that was perfect, because I’ve been wanting to share some fall outfit inspiration with you, here on Evestilo. But, Leticia said she had a vision for the shoot, and asked if I had a long, white dress. Even then, I still didn’t have a clue!

While we were shooting, she asked if we could move to a different spot. As we were walking, we got to The Iris Garden. We both wanted some pictures there. What I didn’t know was that Jacob and Leticia had planned everything beforehand, and this was the spot where he told her that he’d be waiting.

So, I started posing. Then, all of the sudden, I felt someone touch my shoulder. Immediately, I screamed! I spun around, and saw that it was Jacob, but had no idea why he was there. Then, I saw that he was dressed up, and knew this was the moment. I instantly started crying, and he started crying, too! He got down on one knee, and asked me to marry him. Of course...

...I said, “Yes!”

Okay, let's talk about this outfit.

Who hasn't imagined what it'd be like to be a rock star? I'm not a musician—even though I'm pretty sure I was, in another life—but that doesn't stop my girlfriends and I from daydreaming we're living the life of rock n' roll queens.

For some people, that dream starts in high school with a ragtag garage band. For me, it started when I moved to Memphis from Tegucigalpa, Honduras. One thing I've grown to love about the Bluff City is that it's steeped in music history. From Sun Studios to house shows, it's a big part of the city's character. I love musical diversity, and I have Memphis to thank for that.

That's what inspired this look, shot beautifully by my dear friend, Sara. It's perfect for shows, whether you're headed to see a big-name act, or a local hero at the Hi-Tone. Because, let's face it; nothing says "all-American rebel" like an all-black get-up with southwestern details.

I'm very exited to show you some of my ideas for fall outfits. Because, you know, autumn is right around the corner. So, let's get ready!

I love fall and it's colors. Plus, the weather is perfect for combining sweaters and skirts, or dresses and boots. This corduroy skirt, and this color in particular, represents one of favorite colors of the season.

Now, a conversation about autumn colors and textures wouldn't be complete without flannel. Whether you're a mega-hipster, or you're just someone who likes to be warm, it never goes out of style. But, I didn't always think that way. When I was seven years old, my mommy made me wear a flannel shirt with jeans and boots for Christmas. I cried so much because it made me feel like a boy! Now, ironically, it seems like I can't have too many.

If I could go back, I'd tell my seven-year-old self that you can't ever go wrong with a cozy flannel shirt and your favorite blue jeans, or even a skirt!
